How do you choose what skincare products to use for your family – espcially your newest addition??

AHRIA Organics – an Australian certified organic skincare range for the whole family; even safe for your newborn baby!

Walking down the baby and skincare aisles of your local supermarket or pharmacy can be quite a daunting experience, especially for a new mum. Taking in the shelves stocked full of soaps, washes and creams, which one do you choose? You have to get a gentle wash for your new bub, and something for your toddlers’ rash, and then there’s your partners’ dry skin to think about, not to mention your own dwindling supply of face moisturiser. This product says ‘natural’ and that one says ‘organic’ and this one promises to ‘hydrate and nourish’, but why does the list of ingredients on the back remind you of a science fiction short story…

But what if we told you that you didn’t need all those indecipherable ingredients to protect and clean your bub’s skin, or heal and sooth your toddler’s irritated rash? What if all could be attained through carefully selected plant based ingredients? And what if we told you that you didn’t need to buy several different products for each of your family members, but that you could all share just a few?

You may think we’re crazy, but here at AHRIA we’ve worked hard to develop a scientifically formulated plant based skincare range that works for everyone in the family. And we can assure you of its safety and integrity through the certification with Australian Certified Organic (ACO). Here at AHRIA we believe we are honestly different due to our carefully selected ingredients and also perhaps, more importantly, by what we DON’T put in our products!

These days’ rashes and skin irritations are very common in young babies and toddlers; lots of bubs are suffering from dry skin patches to more inflamed areas of eczema. Even a basic ‘milk rash’ on a newborn can become very inflamed when the wrong products are used. Many of these rashes are nothing to worry about and will eventually settle with only a little intervention; whereas others can be more persistent and require more long-term attention. They can cause a lot of discomfort for our little ones and some can be quite unsightly.

There are an ever increasing number of success stories from AHRIA loving parents who have been quick to share their before and after pics with us (you can see for yourself at www.ahriaorganics.com/reviews). The reason for this success is that our Baby Top to Toe Washing Gel together with our Baby Top to Toe Cream have been perfectly formulated to be gentle yet still effective – our belief is that with little ones, less is definitely more! They don’t need lots of washing; and a little product goes a long way and their skin is very delicate and just needs to be optimally supported.

However, where the skin has become inflamed then you need an intervention that will do three things: reduce inflammation; heal and protect from any potential infection; and provide soothing and nurturing moisture as the skin repairs. Each ingredient we use has been chosen to specifically address these issues, while not compromising the sensitive brand-new skin. All AHRIA ingredients are plant-based without any nasties; they are also vegan and cruelty free accredited with Choose Cruelty Free. Our Baby Top to Toe Cream was selected as a finalist in the Australian Organic Industry Awards 2019.

We encourage all parents to take the time to read the labels (just like on your food labels) of the products you are using on your young ones and also while you are pregnant and/or breastfeeding. Check that the product doesn’t just use the words “natural” and “organic” in its advertising but that they prove it via certification (for ACO certification – you want to look for the Bud logo). Additionally, it doesn’t take long these days to look up online what any ingredient is; how it is formulated, what it does and the potential for harm. But with AHRIA products we have done that homework for you!

Young children are developing very dry skin over time, most often, because of the products they are being bathed in and the creams being used to moisturise them that contain ingredients like artificial scents and chemical preservatives; even some of these chemicals are “naturally” derived but they still can cause ongoing skin irritation. Chemical preservatives are used to inhibit bacterial or fungal growth in natural skin care products. Companies use them as alternatives to parabens in the production of skin care products but to produce the compound it requires a number of synthetic processes; thus increasing toxicity. And then there are various emollients and anti-static agents that are also known to be potentially toxic; some proven to be and some with the jury still out and undecided about whether safe or not. But companies can get away with using it as they are permitted for cosmetic use in small quantities – but we are not at all convinced of their safety. That’s why we leave them out. Examples include: sodium hydroxymethyl glycinate, phenoxyethanol, Distearyldimonium chloride, petrolatum, and isopropyl palmitate – just to name a few; but there are many others.

But thankfully our babies and children don’t need to be suffering with a rash in order to benefit from the AHRIA range. In fact, by using the range in the first place we believe that you are optimally supporting your young one’s skin from the get-go.

Be sure to also check out our Award winning Organic Herbal Essences Cream (Best Certified Organic Cosmetic Product of the Year 2019) and our Rose Otto Hydrosol for yourself – completely safe and super effective to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, boosts collagen production, soothes skin irritations and blemishes, balances sebum production and gives your skin a hydrated and healthy glow – just what busy mums deserve; a simple, safe and effective skin care routine!

Excitingly we have several new products being launched this year, so keep an eye out for some awesome additions to our range from end of March 2020.

About the Author

My name is Phil and I’m the founder of AHRIA Organics which was born when my wife was pregnant with our first child. When we went looking for skin care products for both her and our newborn, we found that nearly all of the products on the shelves were either misleading or were full of chemicals. To say I was mortified was an understatement! Even though I was working in IT at the time, I had dabbled in chemistry previously and had studied it at University so decided to put my skills to better use for my family…and the rest as they say is history; although history still very much in the making as we continue to develop even more products during 2020 because people are asking for them.
