More Time – Less Motivation

Before I became a mum I had a full time job. With that job came a great routine. I got up early in the morning, showered, had breakfast and commuted to work, then came home to cook dinner, do dishes and clean the house before sitting on the couch and relaxing before bed time. Weekends were for adventures with my other half and lounging around in pyjama pants. It was busy but I always (well most of the time) had energy to do everything!
Once I got pregnant, my days changed subtly – wake up, dry reach in toilet, shower, dry reach/be sick in shower, sleep on commute to work, come home, cook dinner, be unable to eat dinner due to being sick, dishes then bed – weekends were still for adventures, although they started slightly later from being tired and sick, and pyjama pants kept getting bigger and bigger as did my belly. I still had a great routine, but slightly less energy each month.
When my beautiful baby boy was born, I could easily just sit around all day watching him sleep, wriggle and grow before my very eyes (which is what I did for several days, or weeks…). Now, 19 months later, I am a stay at home mum and still love to watch my boy achieve new skills and grow. Being home all day every day/most days, you would think that you have more time to do more activities and get all the housework and organising done quicker than you would have while working a full time job. Most of my nights consist of me on the couch thinking “okay, tomorrow I will get up early, put the washing on, vacuum the floors, clean the bathroom/kitchen/lounge and have plenty of time in my day to play with my little man”. But come morning, I find myself wishing for “10 more minutes”, sitting on the couch watching my new favourite daytime soaps and not wanting to get off the couch to clean! I have all this extra time but I seem to get less done than I did when I only had a spare few hours in my day.
With no routine my days are just merged together and I often find myself wondering what day it is! Luckily, I am slowly finding my way back to a healthy routine, with activities out of home every Tuesday and Friday with my little man, and going to the gym with my mum every Wednesday. I have more motivation to cook good food which in turn gives me more energy to complete all my daily tasks! Hopefully soon I will have a part-time job and my routine will be fully intact again.
I would love to hear any suggestions for motivation and a routine for throughout my week if anybody has them!
